EU Advisory Group promotes participatory democracy and the role of civil society

On 17-18 February 2012 the EU Advisory Group organised a seminar on Participatory Democracy: the Role of Civil Society. The objective of the seminar was to provide Armenian counterparts with clear guidelines on how to encourage interaction between civil society and state institutions in accordance with EU best practices. The seminar brought together representatives of civil society, state institutions and international organizations.

EU: Armenian authorities should deter the flow of pirated products

The National Security Strategy of the Republic of Armenia gives high priority to the effective protection of intellectual property rights. Draft Government List of Activities related to EU-Armenia cooperation for 2012-2013: strategic actions towards reform

On 31 January 2012 Mr. Artur Baghdasaryan, the Head of the Interagency Commission, coordinating cooperation between Armenian state bodies with the European structure, presented a Draft List of Activities for 2012-2013 in the area of EU-Armenia cooperation. The list aims at ensuring the implementation of the EU-Armenia ENP Action Plan.

Armenian National Assembly and EU Advisory Group co-organise Parliamentary Hearing on the Draft Law on Gender Equality

On 19 January 2011, the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs and the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly (NA) of the Republic of Armenia, in cooperation with the EU Advisory Group, organised a parliamentary hearing on the Draft Law on “Ensuring equal rights and equal opportunities for women and men”.

EU Advisory Group gains further momentum in supporting EU-Armenia reforms

On 14 December 2011, Ambassador Traian Hristea, the new Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, and Mr. Artur Baghdasaryan, Secretary of National Security Council, co-chaired the eighth Advisory Board Meeting of the EU Advisory Group (EUAG) to Armenia.

EU Advisory Group supports Parliamentary Public Hearing on the Draft National Strategy on Human Rights Protection

On 13 December 2011, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the National Security Council, in cooperation with the EU Advisory Group to Armenia, organised a parliamentary public hearing on the Draft National Strategy on Human Rights Protection. The draft strategy which sets the main principles and directions for human rights protection in Armenia was presented to representatives of civil society, international organizations and state authorities.

EU Advisory Group supports the Human Rights Defender’s regional consultations

The EU Advisory Group welcomed and supported the organisation of the Human Rights Defender’s visits to six Armenian marzes (regions). The purpose of the visits was to raise awareness among the rural population about the role of the Human Rights Defender and his activities as well as to reveal the most pressing problems of each Armenian marz.

Prime Minister of Armenia welcomes the EU Advisory Group members

On 28 October 2011, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation led by the EU Advisory Group Team Leader Mr. Antti Hartikainen. Welcoming the guests, the Prime Minister said that the goal of the Armenian Government is to achieve higher efficiency of cooperation with the EU Advisory Group.

Customs Seminar

A seminar providing an ‘Overview of Customs Reforms’, jointly organised by the EU Advisory Group to the Republic of Armenia and the Interagency Commission for Coordination of Cooperation of Armenian State Agencies with EU Institutions, took place on 12 October in Erebuni Plaza Business Centre, Yerevan.
